Dr. Elia received his BS in Psychobiology from UC Davis in 1992. After graduating from college he worked at Fresno Community Hospital as a pathologist assistant. He later pursued his MS in Human Anatomy from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1997. He then went on to receive his M.D. from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in St. Maarten, N.A. in 2003. He completed his Family Medicine residency at UCSF-Fresno in 2008. Throughout residency he moonlighted at Sequoia Health Center as well as Peachwood Medical Group Urgent Care. After leaving Peachwood Medical Group in 2009, he was given an opportunity to pursue private practice and work aside his own childhood Family Doctor, Dr. Gerdes.
